Secondary Education Licensure – Undergraduate
Colorado Initial Teaching License in Secondary Education, Grades 7 through 12, Bachelor of Arts or Science in one of the following academic disciplines: Biology, English, History, Mathematics, Physical Science (Geology), or Spanish (K-12).
Students should meet with a Center for Teacher Education advisor as soon as possible in order to obtain information specific to the secondary education license programs. The following are components of the Colorado Mesa University secondary license programs:
- Academic Major: All secondary license students must complete the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Science in one of the following academic disciplines: Biology, English, History, Mathematics, Physical Science (Geology), or Spanish.
- Admission: Formal admission to the Center for Teacher Education (usually during the junior year).
- Professional Education Sequence for Secondary Teacher License: EDUC Coursework must be taken in the prescribed sequence. Refer to the applicable program listed below.
- Education: Secondary Education, Biological Sciences (BS)
- Education: Secondary Education, English (BA)
- Education: Secondary Education, Geosciences (BS)
- Education: Secondary Education, History (BA)
- Education: Secondary Education, Mathematics (BS)
- Education: Secondary Education, Spanish (BA)
All teacher license programs require passing the PRAXIS II professional license exams prior to beginning the student teaching semester.
